A Ffern Fairytale, Ffern / PAL STUDIOS
Producer
Over eight months, we invited children from across the country to craft a fairytale inspired by the arrival of Spring. Through workshops led by artist Josh Bilton, the children created their own spring fairytale characters that were brought to life in costumes designed by Clarisse d'Arcimoles and Frank Gallacher. None of the children in this film have any previous acting experience, this project encouraged them to simply be themselves.

Across China, thousands of parents are forced to leave their children behind in rural communities to be raised by their grandparents to find work in cities. Filmed between the countryside surrounding Wuhan and Shanghai, the film centres on Wei who is receiving mentorship to combat loneliness.
Against the odds, I managed to secure visas to film in China surrounding this sensitive issue and navigated access on the ground to ensure a smooth-running production.
